4 Elements To Include On Your Homepage

home page

Your homepage is the store front of your online business. You want it to be enticing for people to open up the door and come in to get to know you but you don’t want to overwhelm them. Great web design is a blend of art and science with a little bit of marketing and psychology added to it. Luckily you don’t have to know all of the ins and outs of creating a beautiful website that converts visitors into customers but it will help for you to know a few key features that you definitely want on your homepage.

  1. Clear and eye-catching photos or description

When someone lands on your website, you only have a few seconds to grab their attention and let them know exactly what they can expect on your website. We use some examples of work we have done with Lotus Restaurant and Greystone on Hudson. We used beautiful photos to capture visitor’s attention and descriptive text so visitors knew what to expect.

2. Easy to find and use navigation bar.

Once your visitor has decided to stay on your website, you want to make it easy for them to find their way around the site and discover what they need. Think about why your visitors are on your website: to find how to contact you, to learn more about you or to see your products or services and then make it clear how on where they need to go to get the information they need.

3. Clear calls to action.

Make it very obvious for your visitors to take the next step to becoming a customer by giving them a clear call to action to do so. That might be to contact you, make a reservation, purchase, sign up or book an appointment. Whatever it is that you want your customers to do on your website, use buttons, big fonts or bright colors (within your branding) to call attention it!

4. Keep it simple.

With a homepage, a little bit can go a long way. Like we said in the opening paragraph, you want to entice your customers to stay and not overwhelm them. Limit your photos, calls to actions and menu items so that your customers are not overwhelmed.

The homepage is the entrance to your business’s online home. Don’t chase away potential customers and make it a key part of your online marketing by following these four tips.
