8 Social Media Rules for Success

social media rules

Social media is a growing outlet in the digital and marketing world and it shows no sign of slowing down or stopping anytime soon. If you run any type of business, you need to have a social media presence. It is so important to be able to have a way to connect with online audiences and show off your business, products and personality!

These social media rules will help you have an amazing social media presence that will resonate with your audience, strengthen your brand and help bring you more sales.

1) Give Insider Content

The best social media accounts give some type of behind the scenes content, secrets, insider tips to intrigue their audience. Selling to your audience is important and necessary but social media is all about connection and personality so sharing insider content that helps your audience connect with you is an absolute must-do.

2) Offer discounts

Along with giving insider content, you should be offering specials! You do not have to do this every day but once every few weeks or months, thank your audience for following you by offering them a discount. Remember your audience does not have to connect with you and you should be grateful that they choose to! So send them a thank you!

3) Switch Up Your Content

Most people on social media have short attention spans and they get bored easily! If you’re being repetitive and repeating the same “Happy Monday” post over and over, people will stop engaging. Provide really great content and mix it up. Post a video one day, a quote another day, a sale another day and a testimonial the next day. An important part of social media is intriguing and entertaining your audience!

5) Measure, measure, measure!

Social media is awesome for analytical minds because it shows you pure numbers. You know what resonates with your followers and what does not because the stats will tell you. If one post receives many likes, then look at replicating it. If a certain time of day is successful, then post during that time of day. An important key with social media is to experiment and then measure what works and what doesn’t so you can keep posting what works and eliminate what does not work.

6) Go where you’re successful or where your audience is located.

There are a lot of social media sites but you do not need to be on every single one. In fact, trying to be on every single platform could hurt your brand. It’s better to excel on a single platform than be average on five different platforms.

7) Use high quality photos or videos

Invest in high quality photos or videos for your business or find high quality photos to post on social media. Our eyes process images faster than text so users catch images more than they catch text when they are scrolling and if you use beautiful and compelling images that stand out, you are more likely to catch their attention.

8) Put in the work and be consistent

Social media does take time and effort and you probably will not see return on investment overnight but that does not mean it was a failure. If you keep consistently working on your social media pages, you will see results!
