This Saturday, we encourage our readers to shop small in honor of Small Business Saturday. Small Business Saturday is an initiative spearheaded by American Express that was designed to encourage consumers to shop small and local during the holiday season.
At J. Louis, we help small and local businesses in our community every day and we believe that every day should be a small business day. But Small Business Saturday represents an excellent opportunity for small businesses to gain exposure, capitalize on sales and foster a strong sense of community in their neighborhoods and local areas
Over the past five years, Small Business Saturday has grown into a major nationwide event with local organizations, governments and representatives across the country promoting the day. Since it began in 2010, eighty-eight million people have shown up to “shop small.” In 2014, an estimate $14.3 billion was spent at small independent businesses on Small Business Saturday.
Small businesses from restaurants to clothing stores will be offering great deals and giving you an opportunity to get a jump on your holiday shopping and support your local businesses. The holidays provide an excellent time to support your community and there’s no better way to start than supporting your small businesses this Saturday!
