Apple Pay, Apple’s payment service that allows shoppers to complete a purchase on mobile apps with their fingerprint instead of their credit card details is expanding from only being available in apps to being available in mobile websites by the end of the year. A recent report says that Apple is predicting this tool will be ready before this year’s holiday season.

Mobile commerce has lacked significantly compared to desktop commerce because payment is often a problem for users. According to research done by GfK, mobile devices account for only three percent of transactions in the US, though seven percent from younger mobile users.

Apple Pay has the opportunity to revolutionize mobile commerce, if retailer and customers latch on to the idea. Apple Pay has been slow to catch on in-store but with very limited options for convenient pay on mobile, Apple Pay on mobile could increase adoption rate. This will allow consumers a convenient and safe way to pay on mobile, possibly increasing checkout conversion rates on mobile.
