Most entrepreneurs are chasing a version of success that doesn’t really exist.
They grind all day, burn out by night, and convince themselves that one day it’ll all be worth it—
once the money hits a certain number.
Once the pressure goes away.
Once they finally “make it.”
But here’s the truth:
Success isn’t just about what you build.
It’s about how you live while you’re building it.
I run 3 businesses doing over 7 figures each.
And I still pick my kids up from school every day.
This isn’t luck.
It’s not passive income.
It’s structure, strategy, and a relentless commitment to what matters most.
Here are the 10 principles I live by to make that happen.
1. Replace yourself—again and again.
If the business needs me to function, it’s broken.
My goal is to fire myself from every role I can—again and again.
Not because I’m lazy.
But because ego and pride will always whisper, “No one can do it like you.”
And that lie will trap you in your own business.
Every time I replace myself with a person, a system, or a process, the business gets stronger.
It becomes more scalable, more valuable, and more peaceful.
The less I’m needed, the better we’re doing.
2. Automate everything you explain twice.
If I find myself explaining something more than once, it gets documented or automated.
I’ll shoot a Loom video. Write a checklist. Build a Zap.
Whatever it takes to stop repeating myself.
The less energy I spend on rinse-and-repeat tasks, the more energy I can spend building.
Automation isn’t about replacing people.
It’s about freeing them up to do the work only people can do.
3. Hire brains, not hands.
I don’t just assign tasks—I delegate ownership.
I want thinkers. Problem-solvers. People who take initiative and make things better than I imagined.
When you hire for ownership, you stop being the bottleneck.
You stop answering the same questions over and over.
You create a culture where people lead, not just follow.
That’s how you scale without burnout.
4. Clear calendar = clear mind.
Most people are drowning in distractions they invited.
I don’t do cluttered calendars.
I protect my mornings like my life depends on it—because it does.
No standing calls. No meetings just to “touch base.”
I create space for deep work, creativity, and quiet thinking time.
And when I’m not working, I’m fully present.
You can’t think big when your brain is stuck in busy mode.
5. Speed is your unfair advantage.
Most people are waiting for perfect.
I’m shipping at 80%, learning from feedback, and improving fast.
Speed doesn’t mean sloppy. It means decisive.
The market moves fast. If you hesitate too long, you’ll miss the window.
Done is almost always better than perfect.
6. Make decisions with data, not drama.
Emotions lie. Data tells the truth.
When something breaks, I don’t react emotionally—I investigate.
What’s actually happening? Where’s the bottleneck? What do the numbers say?
The more you lead with data, the less stress you carry.
Facts > Feelings.
7. Build teams that don’t need babysitting.
Micromanagement is a symptom of poor systems or poor hires.
I give my team clear outcomes and the freedom to own their process.
When people feel trusted, they rise.
When they know the goal, they’ll build the path.
Ownership leads to excellence. Babysitting leads to burnout.
8. Only focus on needle-movers.
There’s always more to do.
The secret is knowing which things actually matter.
I focus on the 20% of actions that drive 80% of results:
Product. Marketing. Customer experience.
Everything else?
Delegated. Automated. Or deleted.
You can be busy or you can be effective. Pick one.
9. Stay stupidly consistent.
Most people overcomplicate success.
They get excited, sprint for a week, then burn out.
Me? I’m boring.
I do a few important things every single day, even when I don’t feel like it.
Momentum beats motivation.
Stack enough small wins over time—and the results are inevitable.
10. Never forget who you’re doing it for.
At the end of the day, this isn’t about money.
It’s not about titles or followers.
It’s about my wife.
My kids.
The kind of man I want to be when nobody’s watching.
Success to me means being present for the moments that matter—
and building a business that supports my life, not the other way around.
