Good branding is essential for business success. No longer can we just open up a store or put up a website and attract consumers. Every business must have a brand, a familiar, consistent feel that will set them apart from others. If you have no idea where to start with branding for your business, here are some branding basic tips that will get you started building your consistent look and feel for your brand.
1.Have a clear idea of who you help and the purpose of your business. As a business owner, you need to know your purpose and why your customers are interested in it. You also must be clear on who your customers are and what they need.
2. Give your brand personality and some values. It’s easiest to think of your business in human form and imagine it’s personality. For instance, are you youthful, rugged, elegant, funny, etc. Also, think about the values for your business, which are the set of principles that your business is built on. Ensure that all of your staff understands these two things and are able to communicate it. Knowing your brand personality and your brand values also makes it easier for you to find team members who will fit in with your company culture.
3. Choose colors and font schemes and stick with it. We suggest having a professionally completed logo and brand palette but if you are not at the level where you feel you can invest in this, then we suggest that you at least maintain some consistency in your colors and fonts. This way your audience begins to associate you with those colors and fonts and will have an easier time recognizing you and your advertising.
4. Create templates using your font schemes and colors so that everything matches and it is easy for you to create images, promotion materials or anything else you might need.
5. Be consistent. This is the most important tip for branding. It takes repetition for customers to get used to a brand and so while you might not see much reaction in the beginning, the goal is to be consistent and strengthen the brand by sticking with the personality, values, voice and visual identifiers you’ve chosen.
